Market Research:  Market of Whole Milk Substitutes in 2008

 

In 2008, the major manufacturer of whole milk substitutes in Russia was the Open Joint Stock Company “Milk” (“Moloko”). Its share in 2008 made up 49.0% both in physical and monetary terms. Substantial quantities of WMS were also produced by the Open Joint Stock Company “Vamin Tatarstan”- 17.0% and the Close Joint Stock company “Mustang Ingredients” – 15.7%.
 
The aggregate share of the Russian seven major WMS producers (over 2.0% of the overall volume) in 2008 exceeded 96.4% in physical and value terms.
 
Import of WMS

In 2008 vs. 2007, the volume of WMS imports increased by 2.4 and 11.8% in physical and monetary terms, respectively.
 
In 2008, the following companies were the top WMS importers: Sloten B.V. (Netherlands) – its share in the total import volume made reached 26.0% in physical terms, Vreugdenhil B.V. (Netherlands) – 24.2 % and Nutrifeed Veghel (Netherlands) – 23.9 %. The aggregate volume of WMS supplies in 2008 by eight top companies (more than 2.0% of the total import volume) was 96.1 and 96.4% in physical and monetary terms, respectively.

It is worth noting that companies from Netherlands run first among importers of WMS to the Russian market. Their aggregate share in 2008 reached 93.0 and 93.4% in physical and value terms, respectively.
