There are 30 companies in Ukraine, which are currently engaged in the production of gas meters.

As of 01.01.2008 47 types of gas meters, produced by Ukrainian companies, were entered into the National Measuring Instrument Register. The production capacity of the Ukrainian gas meter manufacturers ensures about 2.6 million items per year.

In natural terms, the volume of gas meter production in 2008 decreased by 25.5% as compared to the previous year.

Apart  from Ukrainian companies, there are active gas meter market players from other countries. 19 companies are currently represented on the Ukrainian market, offering foreign gas meters. 

The widest range of gas meters on the Ukrainian market is offered by CJSC “Gasdevice” (5 types), SE “Plant “Generator”, OJSC “Ivano-Frankovsky Plant “Prompribor”, JVC “Premagas Kromschroeder  Ukraine”, (offering 4 meter types each).

The leading players on the Ukrainian gas meter market are the Ukrainian companies, whose market share (by the outcome of 2008) made up 64.1%.

The market share of Actaris made up 7,3%, those of CJSC “Gasdevice”, Elster and Premagas – 4.9%, 3.2% and 1.0%, respectively.

 

The top level position in the gas meter import hierarchy in 2008 belonged to Actaris enterprises. The share of Actaris SAS in the structure of import to the Ukrainian market made up 23.26%, that of Actaris Gaszahlerbau GmbH – 8.06%. 

The share of Elster in the structure of commercial and household gas meter import to Ukraine  made up  13.55%, those of CJSC “Gasdevice” and Eurodril LTD - 20.88% and 18.07%, respectively.

Within the period indicated the largest volume of gas meters was imported to Ukraine from Belgium, Russia, Germany, France, Argentina.   

 

The top level position in the gas meter export hierarchy in 2008 belonged to OJSC “Yampolsky Instrument-Making Plant”. The share of the company in the structure of export made up 39.31%. 

The share of SE “Novator” in the structure of gas meter export made up 30.47%, those of OJSC “Ivano-Frankovsky Plant “Prompribor”, SE “Plant “Arsenal”, OJSC “Uzhgorodsky Turbogas” - 9.37%, 6.88% and 6.55%, respectively.

Within the period indicated the largest volume of gas meters was exported to Russia, France, Uzbekistan, Moldova and Belarus.

In 2008 the volume of Ukrainian gas meter market reduced by 37.0% (in natural terms) as compared to the previous year. The largest share in the structure of gas meters, available on the Ukrainian market, falls on membrane gas meters (31% of the total amount of meters), rotary and ultrasonic (21%) and turbine (15 %) meters.

The lowest share in the structure of gas meters, available on the Ukrainian market, falls on bellows-type (2%), chamber (2%), vortex (3%) and diaphragm (5%) gas meters.
