The MAUSER group, a leading producer of industrial packaging, has announced that it will enter into a 50:50 joint venture with REYDE S.A., a member of the Spanish ARMANDO ALVAREZ group. By concluding this strategic alliance for the production and sale of IBCs in Spain, MAUSER will further extend its European reach. The newly established, Tarragona-based IBC company will operate under the name of MAUSER REYDE IBÉRICA S.L.
Presently, MAUSER supplies the Spanish market via its IBC site in Coursan, Southern France. The new JV MAUSER REYDE IBÉRICA S. L. will be responsible for the production of the MAUSER SM range of IBCs at Reyde’s Tarragona site and for marketing & sales throughout Spain. The company will be located at REYDE´s Tarragona production plant to benefit from on-site synergies. “The strategic decision of combining MAUSER IBC technology with REYDE’s local sales force and production facilities, broadens our European scope and supports our efforts to optimize our offering to the Spanish market,” says MAUSER CEO Dr. Clemens Willée. The combined IBC business allows MAUSER to increase its European production output and to enhance its plant utilization. “We expect substantial synergy effects for our European business through economies of scale,” adds Klaus Beckmann, manager of MAUSER´s Strategic Business Unit Europe. “We intend to create a strong player in the Spanish market.” REYDE S. A. also considers the alliance a perfect fit: “The MAUSER expertise with international key accounts complements our experience with the local customer base,” explains Justo Sordo, General Manager, REYDE S. A..
Customers in Spain can look forward to a reliable supply of SM type IBCs, offering solid quality, competitive prices and a wide range of design options and accessories. The modification process of REYDE’s state-of-the art IBC production in Tarragona will be supported by an additional blow-moulding machine which is being installed on the premises to allow for the production of larger volumes and to ensure future growth opportunities. The tube cage production line is also being re-engineered to accommodate the MAUSER design. Production facilities and sales operations for the new JV are scheduled to start operations in March 2009.
REYDE S. A., the packaging subsidiary of the Spanish ARMANDO ALVAREZ group, is the leading producer of steel & plastic drums and IBCs in Spain. As a licensee for MAUSER L- Ring drums, REYDE has been closely involved with the MAUSER know-how network for years. The new joint venture now extends the companies’ cooperation to the IBC sector.
