By the outcome of 2008 the overall sales volume of the Russian gas turbine plant manufacturers increased by 2.5% as compared to the previous year. The cumulative gain of the Russian gas turbine plant manufacturers reduced by 18.8%, as compared to 2007.

The aggregate volume of gas turbine plant production in Russia in 2008 made up 2198 MW (in natural terms), indicating an 3.6% growth as compared to the previous year.

The largest input to gas turbine production in Russia in 2008 was made by OJSC “Leningrad Metal Works” (1025 MW). The volume of GTP, produced by the Kazan Motor-Making Production Association made up 584 MW, that by Perm Motor Plant and by Saturn-Gas Turbines 480 and 59 MW, respectively.
Import and Export of Gas Turbine Equipment to/from Russia
The volume of import in the 2008 segment of gas turbines with 5000 kW ultimate capacity increased by 42.8% as compared to the previous year.
The top-level positions in the structure of import in this segment were held by Ukrainian and Czech manufacturers (45.1% and 28.2%, respectively). The import of gas turbines with the capacity beyond 5000 kW increased by 56.8% as compared to 2007. Import from Ukraine (in terms of cost) made up 70.8%, from Switzerland – 20.8%, from Sweden – 8.1%.
The volume of 2008 export in the segment of gas turbines with 5000 kW ultimate capacity increased by 28.3%, as compared to the previous year.
The volume of 2008 export in the segment of gas turbines with the capacity beyond 5000 kW increased by 53.5%, as compared to the previous year.
