Region: World market
Quotation from the report:
"The nanoproduct industry is currently one of the most dynamically developing industries in the world. The estimated volume of the world market for nanomaterials and their production technologies in 2009 made up USD 10.1 billion..
In terms of research intensity in this domain the first five positions are held by the US, Japan, China, Germany and France. Thus, a National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI) was launched in the US in 2000. The major part of investments goes to the US National Research Foundation, and to the organizations under the jurisdiction of Department of Defense and Department of Energy.
In China 600 companies, engaged in nanotechnologies have been established since 2000.
According to the UK Department of Trade, demand for the nanotechnology market services will grow 10 times by 2015, after which the growth rate will significantly slow down. By that time this segment will engage about 2 million employees.
In 2009 the share of nanopowders in the total volume of the nanocomposite market made up 29.4%, that of nanotubes – 64.1%, nanofibers – 6.5%. According to the predictions, the global market for nanocomposites will demonstrate an average annual growth of 25% in natural terms and practically the same in terms of cost until 2015 (a reduction of growth rate will take place around 2014-2015 with almost a 10% reduction annually).”
