“… The economic recession which manifested itself in Russia at the end of 2008 affected the market of shrink films as well. As a result, for the first time over the last several years the market reduced by 5.6% per year.
Another important stage in the development of shrink film market was associated with the transfer to multilayer shrink films. In view of their numerous advantages over single-layer films, they are becoming more and more popular in goods packaging. According to Abercade experts, the estimated proportion of multilayer shrink films in 2009 was around 25% of the total market size. Almost all the manufacturing facilities which have launched shrink film production in the last 2-3 years are focused on the production of multilayer films.
In addition, the Russian consumers of shrink films have been demonstrating an evident trend to rejection of PVC. Numerous logistic center involved in re-packaging have provided information that many final consumers prefer to use polyolefinic films. The key advantage of polyolefinic shrink films over PVC is their lower cost for consumers…”
